On Monday, July 7th, our family-owned sandwich shop, Uncle Henry's Deli, suffered a fire that that is considered a total loss, having damaged the structure and destroying much of whats inside.

Our kitchen, equipment, infamous beer wall, and the place where we’ve shared so many memories with our community are gone.

Henry started this business 65 years ago with the dream of creating a place where everyone felt welcome. Over the years, the deli has become more than just a sandwich shop—it’s been a gathering place, a job creator, and a part of Downey's heart.

While we’re still working with our insurance, we’ve learned that it won’t come close to covering what we need to rebuild. We’re committed to reopening, but we can’t do it alone. And your response so far has been overwhelmingly heartfelt by us. We are so touched to be so loved and seen by this amazing community.
