Help Rebuild Tut's Convenience
Donation protected
Early in the morning on Monday, Adel Elbiyadi, an elderly Egyptian immigrant in his 70s and owner of Tut's Food and Liquor, arrived at his store to find it being robbed. Four people on bicycles approached him, and told him that if he tried to protect his store, they would kill him. He then watched as looters smashed in his front door, broke what they could, and stole from him what they could carry. This is the second time that his store has been looted this summer.
Adel is a kind, old man, who immigrated to the United States from Cairo thirty-six years ago. He does not deserve this kind of misfortune, and he does not deserve to be forced to choose between his life and his livelihood, right after having just rebuilt it.
Help Adel repair and rebuild Tut's Convenience. If you know Tut's, you know that Adel likes to hang up the classic Egyptian images in his store: King Tut, the pyramids. I created an original linocut to hang along with the other images in his store, 6"x8": a map of Egypt showing the Nile River. For the first 12 people who donate over $25, message me your mailing address, and I will send you your own copy as well.
