Loss in devastating fire*
We are deeply saddened, but more than anything, we are asking for your support—not because we are without hope, but because the burden has grown beyond what we can carry alone.
Our cousin, Trevor Gentles, has endured more than most could ever imagine. A few years ago, Trevor was the victim of a violent robbery—a gunman entered his home, shot him, and left him for dead. By the grace of God, Trevor survived.
But the challenges didn’t end there.
Following the trauma, Trevor suffered a strokes, which left him paralyzed and bedridden. For years, we—his family as most of us are now in our 60s—have stood by him, rallying our strength and resources to give him care and comfort. But the emotional and financial strain has become overwhelming.
And then came the final blow.
A fire completely destroyed Trevor’s home, taking with it all his earthly possessions and the little security he had left. Nothing was spared. He is now resting at our grandmother’s home in Old Harbour, St. Catherine—a sacred space of family legacy—but even there, we are stretched thin.
Why We’re Asking for Help
We are a family raised on the values of love, support, and legacy. Our grandmother taught us to lift each other up, no matter what. And now, with broken hearts and tired hands, we are lifting Trevor—but we need your help to keep holding on.
Whatever you can give—no matter how small or how generous—will help Trevor regain some stability and dignity. Whether it’s to help rebuild a roof over his head, purchase essential items, or assist with medical care and therapy, every dollar counts.
A Prayer and A Plea
Dear Lord,
We come to You not just for Trevor, but for all those like him—wounded, weathered, and weary. Strengthen our hands. Open hearts. Multiply kindness. Let this be a story of rebuilding, not of ruin.
Help us to help Trevor.
Help him, dear Lord. Help him.
With love and gratitude,
The Family and Friends of Trevor Gentles
