Help Rebuild the Sikh Heritage Museum of Canada

Donation protected
On February 26, 2026, the Sikh Heritage Museum of Canada suffered significant fire and water damage caused by an incident in the unit above our space. Everyone is safe, but the damage is severe and the museum must now be gutted and rebuilt.

In the first 24 hours, our team began emergency triage to protect what we could. Despite these efforts, many irreplaceable artifacts including pieces dating back to the 1800s were damaged. Our team then worked five straight days and nights to remove and safeguard materials and prevent further loss.

This damage also destroyed key educational resources and traveling exhibits we use to bring Sikh history into schools and community spaces across Canada.

We are raising $100,000 for urgent recovery and rebuilding, including:

  • Fire, smoke, and water remediation and cleanup
  • Rebuilding the museum space and essential repairs to reopen safely
  • Protection and conservation of surviving artifacts
  • Recreating educational materials and traveling exhibits

Every day matters because moisture and smoke damage can worsen over time and increase restoration costs.
If the museum has ever inspired you or connected you to your heritage, please donate. If you cannot donate today, sharing this fundraiser is just as powerful.
With your support, we will rebuild, restore, and continue our story.
With gratitude,

Board of Directors
