Dear friends, family, and kind strangers,
On the night of December 4th, 2025, our world turned to ashes in an instant. What started as a peaceful evening in our beloved cabins nestled deep in the woods of Snohomish, WA, became a nightmare we never imagined. A catastrophic fire erupted, engulfing our home and everything we held dear. We were left watching helplessly as flames consumed the life we had built together.
Our cabins weren’t just structures, they were our sanctuary. They represented years of hard work and countless memories as they grew with our family. In 45 minutes, they were gone. We escaped with our lives and the clothes on our backs, but the near total destruction has left our family of six displaced, heartbroken, and in need of help to start over. Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward these critical needs:
Housing: Initial deposits for our rental with pet-friendly accommodations.
Clean Up & Moving: Costs to clean up the site and move any salvageable items.
Pet Support: Food, veterinary check-ups, and supplies for our dogs and cats, who are as much a part of our family as anyone.
I have always prided myself on self-reliance, but this fire has taken a toll. Our girls, ages 5, 7, 10, and 12, are resilient little warriors, but they've lost their sense of stability overnight. We've had overwhelming support so far and all of our basic needs have been covered. Your support means we can focus on healing and rebuilding.
We've attached a photo and a video to put in perspective he magnitude of the blaze. With your help, we can rise from these ashes stronger than before. Full video: https://youtube.com/shorts/2T-tmcR5Y5Q Your compassion, prayers, and shares mean the world to us. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us find our way back home.
We are also forever indebted to the Colaci, Corrigan, Schwope & Johnson Family's that have made huge early contributions and sacrificed time and resources to help us this far!
With gratitude,
The Murta Family: Justin, Raf, Juju, Rara, Ella & Mimi
