Help Rebuild the Gibbs Family Home and Lives

My name is MacKenzie and I am a colleague of Ms. Chaunta Gibbs, an incredibly caring special education teacher. I have created this GoFundMe at the request of the family, as they are incredibly overwhelmed and do not have stable internet or cell-phone service.

On May 16th, 2025, an EF3 tornado hit St. Louis and completely destroyed the home of Chaunta Gibbs and her family. The tornado also took the life of their beloved Delois Holmes, a 70-year-old godmother, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

The family is heartbroken and overwhelmed by the sudden loss of the home, their company’s inventory, and beloved family member that has shaped so much of who they are. We are incredibly thankful that the rest of Ms. Gibbs’ family is safe, but the emotional and financial toll of what was lost has been heavy.

The family is now facing the challenge of rebuilding from the ground up - without a home or without many of the essentials that we take for granted in our day-to-day lives.

We are asking for financial support to help get the family back on their feet by repairing their vehicles, their home (roof, windows, structure overall, etc.), and replenishing basic supplies.
