Help Rebuild the Black Family Home

Donation protected
Hurricane Helene wreaked havoc on WNC on September 27, 2024. As a result, many have lost their homes and lives. It was a weather event like we have never experienced nor could imagine happening to our beautiful Appalachia. Unfortunately, the Black family home was hit hard by Helene's raging waters. Living in Fairview, NC, their home was severely flooded. Cody and Shinnah Black have raised four beautiful children, James, Chad, Kayla, and Tyler, and two dogs, Roxy and Coco, in this home since 2001. They could only salvage a little clothing and some small items from the upstairs. The remnants of the home will have to be demolished.

The community has so generously provided the family with clothing, food, and a temporary place to stay, and they are so very grateful for these blessings and outpouring of love. The Blacks could really use monetary gifts to help rebuild their home, replace family possessions, and help with cleanup and repairs of the property. Please consider donating and keep them in your prayers.

I am Jatana Mitchell, a long-time family friend of the Black family. I have put this GoFundMe together to help the family. 100% of the donations will go directly to Cody and Shinnah Black.
