My family's home in Westmoreland, Jamaica, has taken a huge hit from Hurricane Melissa. The destruction caused by the hurricane has left my family struggling to make ends meet, as the house was left in conditions that make it barely livable for them to be in. The roof has blown off, several walls are cracked, and flooding has damaged furniture, appliances, and clothing. With the family home destroyed, their livelihoods are severely impacted, and my family is in dire need of support.

The Beckford family home, founded by my parents, was once filled with love, joy, laughter, and meaningful memories. It was supposed to be a place where all the children and grandchildren could come and enjoy their island home—a place that carried our family's legacy and spirit.

When Lloyd and Norma passed away, the home was passed down to their children, who have since been working to save money and finish what my parents started. Within the last two years, my siblings have worked together to install new windows, fix doors and locks, and repair the roof twice after the previous hurricane last year. Sadly, the hurricane has come and taken all our progress with it, leaving the house in worse condition than ever before.

My family and I are trying to figure out how to start over and are asking for your help. Every donation, no matter how small, will help bring our family closer to rebuilding a safe and stable home again. If you are unable to give, please consider sharing and helping us spread the word.
