My name is Obinna Ude, and I am originally from Obazu Mbieri in Imo State, Nigeria, although I now live in the United Kingdom.
I am raising funds to help restore St. Catherine Secondary School (St. Cata), a historic school in my community that has served generations of students.
Founded in 1948, St. Catherine Secondary School is the oldest secondary school in the Mbieri community, established even before Nigeria gained independence in 1960. The school originally functioned as both a commercial school and a teachers’ training college, and over the decades it has produced many respected teachers, professionals, and community leaders.
Sadly, the school buildings today are in a very poor condition. The roof is badly rusted and leaking, parts of the ceilings have collapsed, and several classrooms are unsafe for students. Despite these difficult conditions, students still come to school every day hoping for a better future through education.
This school is not just a building — it is an important part of the history and identity of Obazu Mbieri and the wider Mbieri community.
We are hoping to raise £12,000 to begin urgently needed repairs, including:
1. Replacing the damaged roofing
2. Repairing ceilings and structural areas
3. Fixing walls and repainting classrooms
4. Installing proper windows and doors
5. Improving the learning environment for students
All funds will be withdrawn to my UK account and used directly for the renovation of the school. I will provide regular updates, photos, and progress reports so everyone who supports this project can see exactly how their donations are making a difference.
By supporting this fundraiser, you will be helping to preserve a historic school and give the next generation of students a safe place to learn.
Every donation, no matter how small, brings us closer to restoring this important school for the children of Obazu Mbieri.
Thank you for your support.
