Aloha.
This is Yacht Caption Matthew Reid and his wife, Rhen. We are reaching out to our friends and family for assistance in rebuilding the Siargao Yacht Club after being devastated by Super Typhoon Rai this past week. The category 5 Super Typhoon literally wiped off the second floor of the concrete block building with over 170 mph winds. The photo on the front page of our GoFundMe page is what is left of the Siargao Yacht Club. We built the Siargao Yacht Club, a nonprofit dedicated to, "Bringing education and opportunity to the youth of Siargao through sailing." You can see the devastation from the storm. We once had a second floor on the right, but now all we see is the remains of the brand new blue roof that used to sit upon the second floor and the railing. The devastation is all around as this beautiful tourist island was one of the hardest hit.

Our immediate goal is to get the Yacht Club secure as a base of operations for relief efforts. We will accomplish this by working with the Philippine Coast Guard and Navy as well as various NGO's. This will reqire the rebuilding of the base home for the Yacht Club. The funds that you donate will help us accomplish this goal sooner so that we can have a great impact on helping all the islanders.

We ask for your help and support as we start the rebuilding work to be able to continue our dreams of educating youth and providing much needed opportunities for them as well as to more importantly, assist with the current relief efforts of this catastrophe. You can see in the following pictures, some of the supplies that we stuffed into the truck to help the residents of Siargao.

We are determined to stay on task with our fledgling club and already have a plan in place for the reconstruction of the 2nd floor. Rebuilding the Siargao Yacht Club will provide the opportunity for us to continue "bringing education and opportunity" to the wonderful people of Siargao.
