Hello. My elderly father and his wife lost their home, their vehicles and everything they own in a terrible house fire on July 7th in the Spring River, OR area. This was their dream, retirement home that they built from the ground up. Thankfully, they both survived, as did their two beloved doggos. The last photo is from Google maps, showing what it looked like before the fire.
Wonderful and kind neighbors took them in for the first 2 nights and they have been staying in Sisters with my brother since, but this situation is only temporary and he and I are both trying to get them back on their feet.
My folks' home owner's insurance had recently been cancelled because their home was adjacent to the national forest and considered too much of a fire risk. We are not sure what the emergency coverage my dad obtained through the state will cover.
If you are able to donate financially or part with any of the following at a reduced cost, we would be exceedingly grateful:
- A place to live for the two of them and their two lab-mix dogs.
- An RV or trailer they could live in if they are unable to find a place
- Clothing & Shoes
- Dad wears 36x30 pants and XL shirts and jackets and 10.5B shoe size.
- My stepmom wears 6 pants, small or medium shirts and jackets and has a 6 shoe size.
- Camping gear
- Dog beds, bowls, food, toys, etc.
- My dad is also a musician and lost his entire collection of guitars, banjos, an accordion, etc. In the midst of all the chaos, I think it would bring him joy to be able to play an instrument if you have any sitting around not being used.
Thank you for anyone who is able to offer anything, even if it is just a kind word, prayer or heartfelt message. This is an exceedingly difficult time for my folks who just wanted to grow old in the woods, away from the madness of the world, before their time was up.
