Help Rebuild Pisgah & DuPont Forest Trails

Hurricane Helene, which made landfall on September 28th, 2024, had significant impacts on Western North Carolina, particularly affecting the local mountain bike and hiking trails.

The heavy rains and winds brought by the hurricane resulted in widespread flooding and damage to the trail systems, leading to closures and extensive repairs to Pisgah National Forest and DuPont State Forest.

Mountain biking and all outdoor activities in WNC, which are a vital part of our community that attracts both locals and tourists, suffered as trails became unsafe and impassable.

As a result, local WNC businesses that cater to bikers, hikers, and all other outdoor activities, including shops, rentals, and dining establishments, experienced a downturn in revenue due to decreased foot traffic and fewer visitors.

However, the resilience of our community and organizations such as Sorba have responded by organizing trail restoration efforts, aiming to revive the outdoor sports scene.

Over time, these efforts not only will restore our trails and forests but also foster a renewed sense of community involvement, drawing attention back to the region's outdoor offerings. In the long run, the experience highlighted the need for improved infrastructure and preparedness for future storms, ultimately strengthening the local economy's focus on resilience and sustainability.

Our family is looking forward to having you back in the shop, along our group rides that cater to all levels and back out enjoying all of our forest together again.
