Help Rebuild Peterson’s Store for Future Generations
Donation protected
On the morning of September 27th 2024, Hurricane Helene destroyed our beloved community of Huntdale, NC and decimated the historic landmark of Peterson’s Country Store and its surrounding buildings. A general store founded by our ancestors dating back over 120 years-with some of the buildings remaining in use after all this time. Phin Peterson bought and modernized the business and all the property in the 60s and Lynn Peterson, took over in the 80s. It was a local business that has met the needs of our community for years. The business has stood the test of time but unfortunately nothing but debris remains after the catastrophic flooding. Although some things money can't buy, we are hoping to rebuild this business from the ground up so that we can continue to provide this community a convenience store for generations to come. Although we had insurance, flood insurance was not included. Many have suggested that we start this process with a gofundme page-so at their request, we have opened a separate account that will be dedicated to the new beginnings of Peterson’s Store.
