Help Save Peterson Tool Rental – Insurance Denies Coverage

If you’ve ever owned a home or run a business in Yonkers—or anywhere in Westchester—chances are you know Carl Peterson and Peterson Tool Rental. For more than 70 years, Peterson’s has been a trusted cornerstone of the community. Need a machine? A part? Some advice? Carl was there to help—even if you couldn’t pay, even if it meant staying late, even if it came at a cost to him. But now, after a catastrophic accident—and with insurance declining to cover the damages—Carl needs OUR help.

On April 7th, a massive boulder crashed through the back wall of the building. The impact caused a partial collapse that destroyed much of the structure, severely damaged equipment, and forced Peterson Tool Rental to shut down. Worse, the company’s insurance provider is declining to cover any of the damages. This means the destroyed section of the building—and much of the equipment—are a complete loss.

Now the Peterson family is facing mounting expenses, from demolition and site security to tool replacement and rebuilding. Without help, the future of this longtime local business is uncertain.

That’s why we’ve started this fundraiser—to help Carl and his family recover, rebuild, and reopen. Every dollar raised will go directly toward cleanup, demolition, repairs, and replacing lost equipment.

Carl took over operations more than 50 years ago and has kept it going with hard work, integrity, and a genuine commitment to the people he serves.
