Desert Peach Montessori School sits on a beautiful property in Old Northwest Reno, surrounded by natural beauty and opportunities for outdoor learning. To the west of the indoor classroom, a natural playground was established in 2024, providing students with a wonderful place to play and explore. Now, attention has turned to the east side of the building, where the property's former community garden is in need of some love. The garden beds have fallen into disrepair, but the area holds great potential as an outdoor classroom, teaching garden, and community gathering space.
The school was recently selected as a recipient of the 'Gardening for All' program through Urban Roots, a local nonprofit dedicated to urban farming and community improvement. This partnership is an exciting step forward, but it comes with a challenge: the school must fundraise part of the project's cost to bring the garden back to life. With the support of families, friends, and neighbors, Desert Peach Montessori hopes to rebuild the garden and transform the area into a vibrant, hands-on learning environment.
Once the improvements are made, students will have more opportunities to be active participants in gardening, connect with the natural world, and learn in an outdoor classroom setting. The space will also become a beautiful area for hosting community events, bringing people together and strengthening the bonds between the school and its neighborhood. By supporting this fundraiser, you are helping to create a unique and welcoming space that will benefit children, families, and the entire community for years to come. Thank you for considering a gift to help make this vision a reality.
