Help Rebuild Our Mother’s Life After Deportation

Our family is asking for help during one of the most heartbreaking and traumatic times of our lives.

Our mother was raised in San Diego, California, where she spent her childhood, built her life, and raised her children. She is a loving mother, grandmother, and the heart of our family.

According to witnesses and video shared publicly, our mother was forcibly detained by ICE while walking near Sawaya Market to buy tortillas. community members who saw the incident describe her being physically beaten and taken into custody in broad daylight. People nearby tried to intervene and speak up on her behalf as the incident unfolded.

Our mother isn’t even 5 feet tall, yet witnesses watched as multiple ICE agents restrain and detained her. To our family, it felt like an overwhelming and unnecessary use of force against a small woman who posed no threat. Seeing several agents surround her has left us devastated and questioning why so much force was used.

As her children, it is heartbreaking to watch someone so small and vulnerable be treated this way. We believe she was denied dignity and compassion during one of the most traumatic moments of her life. The emotional impact on our family has been immeasurable, and we continue to struggle with the pain of seeing our mother taken from us.

We are especially grateful to Arturo, whose video helped bring attention to what happened. Without that video being posted, our family may not have known the circumstances surrounding our mother’s detention. We are also deeply thankful to the community members who attempted to help and intervene during the incident.

After being detained, our mother was deported and separated from her children and loved ones. She lost access to many of her personal belongings and the life she had built over decades in San Diego.

As if this were not enough, our mother is currently battling cancer and needs ongoing medical care, support, and stability. Facing a serious illness while being separated from her family has been devastating for her and for all of us.

We are raising funds to help with:

• Medical expenses and necessary care
• Housing and basic necessities
• Replacing essential belongings and personal items
• Transportation and communication expenses
• Legal and humanitarian assistance, where available

Our mother has spent her life loving and caring for others. Now she needs help from her community as she works to rebuild her life and continue her fight against cancer.

Any donation, no matter how small, will make a difference. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser and keeping our family in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you for your compassion, support, and solidarity during this incredibly difficult time.
