In the mountains of Gran Canaria, our family’s life was turned upside down by Storm Terese. Torrential rain and landslides swept away our main access road and flooded our home. We lost two years’ worth of home-grown food stored in our freezers, our clothing, furniture, and most of our everyday essentials. The house is uninhabitable, and our children are staying with relatives while we try to piece together what remains.
