In October 2024, our church—Living Word Baptist Church, AKA First Baptist Church of Avra Valley in Marana—was tragically burned down in an act of arson. The fire was started by someone who said he was bored, leaving our congregation and community heartbroken. For over 75 years, our church has been a cornerstone in the lives of countless families, offering a place for worship, weddings, baptisms, and support for missionaries both locally and abroad. The loss of our building has been deeply felt, but our spirit remains strong.

Even in the face of this tragedy, we have not missed a single service. We’ve continued gathering in our Fellowship Hall, determined to keep our faith and traditions alive. Our church family is moving forward with hope, guided by God’s love and the strength of our community. The funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward rebuilding our church, restoring a place that means so much to so many.
