Help save the Jubilee Community Centre in Bowdon, Altrincham – £140,000 needed.
From toddlers to the elderly, our community centre supports us all —but now it needs your help.

Hello, my name is John Watson, Chairman of the Bowdon Community Association, which runs the charity in charge the Jubilee Community Centre. This facility has been at the heart of our town since 1977 – hosting children’s parties, art and textile groups, charity tea parties, bridge clubs, exercise and dance classes, and providing meeting rooms for local groups. It’s a hub where everyone in our community comes together.
I have been asked by the Trustees of the charity to put this GoFundMe page together, which has been organised by our Manager, Philippa.

The land our current centre sits on has been sold by Trafford Council and is due to be redeveloped with residential housing and a new multi-purpose building that could be a brand new community centre, but only if we can raise and contribute £140,000 towards the build costs of the new centre.

The current centre will close in December 2026 and the new building will be built by the developer. However, without urgent support, Bowdon will lose this vital space for socialising, learning, and recreation. If we can't raise the money by December 2026, the building will be sold off to the highest bidder.

We have the opportunity to rebuild a modern, accessible, and welcoming community centre – a place for everyone: young and old, families, local groups, and those in need.

On completion the Bowdon Community Association charity will own the freehold of the centre which means it will remain in the community for future generations.

Our vision includes:
• Accessible spaces for people with disabilities.
• A multipurpose hall with kitchen for events, classes, and parties.
• Safe and inviting spaces for children and families.
• Dedicated meeting room for local clubs and groups.
• Energy-efficient and environmentally friendly design.

The £140,000 raised will go directly towards construction, accessibility improvements, and creating a centre that serves Bowdon for generations to come.

Every donation brings us closer to saving our community hub before it closes in December 2026. Together, we can ensure Bowdon continues to have a place where everyone belongs.

How Your Donations Will Help:
• £10 – indoor plants to make the space feel calmer.
• £50 – tables and chairs.
• £100 – accessibility improvements for all visitors.
• £500 – construction and refurbishment costs for a multipurpose hall, kitchen and meeting room.

Call to Action:
• Donate today – time is running out!
• Share our campaign widely – every share helps us reach our December 2026 deadline.
• We are hoping the local community will get behind our campaign to rebuild our busy community centre.
• If you feel you can donate any amount, big or small, to ensure that a much loved community centre remains open for the public then we would be very grateful.
2027 will be the 50th anniversary of the Jubilee Community Centre so help us celebrate this milestone by raising the funds and opening a brand new centre.
Thank you!
