HELP REBUILD NKST CHURCH ABULE EGBA, LAGOS

Donation protected
The NKST Church Abule Egba in the suburbs of Lagos, Nigeria was demolished by the Lagos State government On February 18, 2020 leaving the church without a place of worship. The Church now seeks your help to acquire a piece of land and rebuild its church  in order to continue with its work of propagating the gospel.

NKST stands for Nongu u Kristu u i Ser u sha Tar, translated Universal Reformed Christian Church, a Christian Reformed church based in Nigeria. The church was founded by the Dutch Reformed Church of South Africa in 1911 as part of its mission work among ethnic Tiv people of the Middle belt (North Central) region of Nigeria. Accordingly, the church was initially named Nongo u Kristu u ken Sudan hen Tiv – NKST (translated The Church of Christ in the Sudan Among the Tiv), with its headquarters at Mkar Benue state, Nigeria where it also has a seminary – the Reformed Theological Seminary - for training of its pastors.

NKST is a confessional Christian Reformed denomination most popular amongst the Tiv speaking nations of Benue, Nasarawa and Taraba states but envisioned, by the grace of God, to be a multiethnic Christian community drawn from all nations and cultures of the world and united in the doctrine of Jesus Christ and purpose so as to offer holistic service with available resources to reach the unreached. This vision of a multi-ethnic church informed the change of the church’ name from The Church of Christ in the Sudan Among the Tiv to Universal Reformed Christian Church. The church’s structure in descending order includes the Synod (its highest body), classis, Consistory, Missions and worship centers

NKST Abule Egba is a consistory of the NKST church in the Abule Egba suburb of Lagos, South West Nigeria. Prior to its demolition, the church stood on a piece of land which had been donated by a deceased member of the church more than 20 years ago. The church had erected a church building, a pastor’s residence and a mini children’s church which also housed offices and guest rooms, all fenced

On February 18, 2020, the Lagos State government demolished the entire premises of the church alongside other adjourning properties having given a 7-day notice of demolition citing redevelopment of the entire area in the “pubic interest”. It is worthy of note that the church was operating on this property without government interference for over 2 decades and paying all land use charges for the same period. This development has left the church without a place to call its own and in severe financial difficulty having lost almost all its possessions in the demolition and having to pay to rent halls for its church services, It is also worthy of note that the church membership is primarily pf low to medium income bracket and the cost of landed property in Lagos is extremely high which makes the recovery even more challenging.

The NKST church Abule believes that it has a mandate to continue to propagate the gospel of Christ in its immediate environment and to the rest of the world. To this end, the church is seeking, and believing God for the sum of US$ 720,000 (Seven hundred and twenty thousand US Dollars) or its equivalent. This amount is required for the:
Purchase of Land in Lagos measuring at least 1 acre
Construction of Church Building
Construction of Children’s Church
Construction of Office and Living quarters for resident and visiting church workers including the clergy.

This fundraising is being organized by Mr Tertsegha Tor-Anyiin, a member of the church now residing in Australia on behalf of the church as the church has no bank account outside Nigeria. The funds realized will be withdrawn by the organizer and transferred to the account of the church in Nigeria.
