Help Rebuild New Dawn Horizons Stables
On Sunday, February 28th, our barn owner Victoria Adams and her family suffered an immense tragedy, that words cannot describe.
Sweet Pea, a rescue mare with the most kind and gentle spirit, and her two inseparable mini pasture mates were put in the indoor arena to enjoy a post farrier run, when the entirety of the arena collapsed on top of them. While the two minis were able to make it out with no injuries, our gentle spirit Sweet Pea suffered serious injuries and was humanely euthanized the moment the vet arrived.
Our arena walls are a part of the paddock for all of the horses and it was imperative that with all of the debris they be moved. While out checking the herd we discovered a second horse of Victoria’s, Chance, had also suffered a serious injury, and he joined Sweet Pea over the rainbow bridge.
Chance was a very special horse that started it all for Victoria and her family not many years ago. He had a loving and goofy personality that their entire family adored. Victoria and her husband Rich are THE most genuine and kind people I have ever met, and it reflects in the above and beyond care they provide for not only the rescue horses they adopt, but the horses belonging to their boarders as well. For something of this magnitude to happen to anyone, let alone some of the best people I have ever met, it is absolutely heart breaking.
At this point in time the arena is considered an outbuilding and may not be fully covered for rebuild. If the insurance does cover the rebuild of the arena, the deductible for an outbuilding repair is a very large sum, and the cost of the rebuild may exceed the coverage amount. Any support that you may be able to provide will be so greatly appreciated to help this family put some of the pieces back together.
