My name is Omer Cetinkaya. I moved to Edmonton in January 2024 with a passion to bridge cultures and build a meaningful life in Canada.

Upon arriving, I didn't waste any time. I established my company, Omni Event Management Inc., and worked tirelessly to organize unique cultural events in Edmonton—events that brought people together and introduced the richness of my heritage to this welcoming city. My goal was simple: to work hard, contribute to the local economy, and be a positive part of this community.

Encouraged by this initial success, I poured everything I had—my savings, my time, and my hopes—into a new venture: opening an Escape Room business.

Unfortunately, on December 7th, my dream turned into a nightmare.

I was ambushed in my own business parking lot. An organized group arrived with a moving truck and multiple vehicles. They physically blocked my car, trapping me inside and holding me against my will for 1.5 hours. I was threatened with severe violence if I called the police. Fearing for my life against a large group, I was forced to watch helplessly from my locked car while they broke into my premises. I managed to escape only when they moved the truck that was blocking my exit.

The next day, I returned to the premises and saw that everything had been taken. Furniture, electronics, equipment... the entire business I built from scratch was dismantled and stolen. They left me with an empty shop, a broken dream, and severe psychological trauma. I am currently living in fear because I'm far away from my family and I have no one to support me. My source of income has been stolen, yet I still face lease obligations and legal costs to fight for justice.

I still believe in the kindness of people. I am raising funds to cover legal fees to fight for justice, and to rebuild my business so I can continue bringing people together while I try to recover from this total loss.
