A couple of years back, after just my mom and I had been together since I was born, she decided to embark on a quest to reconnect with her college sweetheart, whom she hadn't spoken to in years. After a lot of digging and research, she finally tracked him down. They chatted for a few years before meeting up again, and since that day, they've been inseparable. My mom moved in with the love of her life, and they began a new chapter together in a quaint little town, living on a lovely property they could call home. Both my mom and her partner are huge animal lovers, treating their pets like their own kids now that their actual children are grown and have families of their own.

While my mom and her partner were out of town for work, they received the most horrifying call imaginable: their home was on fire, and all their fur babies were still inside. Being about 30 minutes away, they rushed back home, unsure of what they would find. When they got there, everything they owned was gone, and tragically, their pets had perished in the fire. The firefighters took 15 minutes to arrive, even though they were just down the street, and this delay caused irreparable damage to their home and pets that could have been avoided.

My mom and her partner lost all their mementos, important documents, and cherished items from their children's childhoods, but the biggest loss was their beloved pets. While they wait for the Red Cross to reach out, they're trying to make ends meet, with family doing what they can to help. They're currently staying in a hotel room but have no clothes, hygiene products, or anything at all. Right now, they're homeless and have to start over from scratch. As her daughter, I'm doing everything I can to support them, but only I can do so much. Absolutely anything at this point will help, the lives of their pets are absolutely irreplaceable, and at this point that’s all that truly mattered that was lost as everything material can be replaced… please keep my mom and her partner in your thoughts as they really need support during this time.

The donations received will assist her and her partner in rebuilding their lives as effectively as possible. They will be residing in hotels until we secure appropriate temporary housing while they secure a more permanent living environment.
