Hello, my name is Colinette Jones also known as Simone. I live in England and I am reaching out for support after a devastating disaster hit my home community in Jamaica. Recently Hurricane Melissa tore through St Elizabeth, including my District of Thornton, causing severe destruction. Nearly all of the homes have been damaged or completely destroyed, leaving many families displaced and without basic necessities.

My own family has been deeply affected. The home where my mother, brother, his wife and two children lives is badly damaged. All of their belongings were damaged or destroyed. My brother's small shop - his only source of income - was completely destroyed. This has been especially difficult because my brother is still recovering from a heart attack just two months ago, and continues to suffer from high blood pressure.

My mother also has ongoing health issues, including severe back and knee problems, which makes the situation even more challenging for her.

I also have other brothers, relatives and neighbours in Thornton whose homes have been destroy. Our community has always supported each other, but this disaster has left us with needs far beyond what we can manage on our own.

The funds raised will be use to:

*Rebuild my family home

*Replace essential household items

and clothing for my family

*Rebuild my brother's shop so that he can return to earning an income to provide for his family

*Assist other family members and neighbours in the community who have lost their homes and belongings.
