Help Rebuild my Community & Childhood Home in St. Elizabeth

Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Jody Daley, and I am writing on behalf of my grandmother and family in Jamaica.

As many of you know, Jamaica has been struck by Hurricane Melissa, leaving the entire country in distress.

My home Parish, St. Elizabeth, was directly affected by the hurricane. My community and my family were absolutely devastated. I went days without knowing if my family was safe. My cousin walked two hours to the nearest tower to get a signal. I have finally received word that they are safe, which is most important.

Sadly, my district, New Savannah, has been largely destroyed. Only three homes remain standing. My childhood home was lost, as our cherished breadfruit tree fell directly onto it.

My grandmother, who is 95 years old, has also been left unhoused. The hurricane completely wrecked her house. Her roof blew off, windows smashed, and her house flooded. Unfortunately, she was unable to save anything and is now staying at a shelter with other relatives. My grandmother suffers from high blood pressure and diabetes. The closest hospital in Black River is completely decimated. I worry about her health and ability to get adequate care.

After almost 20 years away from Jamaica, I had the privilege of introducing my daughter to my grandmother this past June. To have my daughter walk through my childhood home and play in my bedroom meant everything to me. So it is especially difficult for me knowing that our home is completely gone—it is a hard pill to swallow.

I come to you with grace and humility, appealing to you to open your hearts. Please help rebuild my community. Help my grandmother go home again. Help restore my childhood home. Many other families in my district have also been severely affected. They are struggling to find food, shelter, and clean drinking water. My entire district is facing an uncertain future.

Your donation will have an immediate impact by providing food, clean water, and medical supplies for my grandmother and others. It will also provide building materials to begin reconstruction. No contribution is too small. Every act of generosity brings us closer to rebuilding. Please donate today or share this message to help us reach more hearts. Together, we can rebuild stronger than before. Your action now truly matters.

We thank you in advance for your generosity and support. Regular updates will be shared on the impact of your donations and how they are used to rebuild our community. Together, your contribution makes a difference.

My family and the New Savannah District, St Elizabeth, Jamaica.
