Hello everyone,
My name is Emmanuel Onyia Jr, and I’m organizing this fundraiser to support Munro College and the surrounding communities in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, following the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa.
I was raised in Jamaica and attended Munro College, a place that shaped much of who I am today. Munro is one of the Caribbean’s premier boys’ boarding schools, known for producing some of Jamaica’s top leaders — doctors, lawyers, entrepreneurs, and public servants. It holds a special place in my heart, and for many others who call it home.
When Hurricane Melissa struck, it caused widespread destruction across the island — and St. Elizabeth was among the hardest-hit parishes. My family, currently living in Montego Bay, experienced this devastation personally. For days, I couldn’t reach my parents and grand mother. Those days were agonizing. Thankfully, they are safe. Our homes sustained damage - things can be repaired. Sadly, many others weren’t as fortunate. Some of my friends are still unable to contact their loved ones.
After much discussion with family and fellow Munronians, we decided to focus our efforts on helping Munro College and the surrounding communities rebuild. The school and its neighboring areas are in urgent need of assistance — roofs destroyed, classrooms damaged, and families displaced.
Munro has given so much to Jamaica and the world — educating generations of young men who’ve gone on to make a difference globally. Now, it’s our turn to give back.
Your support will help provide:
Emergency relief for affected families in St. Elizabeth
Repairs to Munro College facilities
Essential supplies and infrastructure to restore normalcy for students and staff
Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a difference. Let’s come together to help this remarkable institution and its community recover and rebuild stronger.
Thank you for your generosity, your prayers, and your solidarity with the people of Jamaica.
With gratitude,
Emmanuel Onyia Jr.
