Help Rebuild Lucea, Hanover After Hurricane Melissa
Hello, my name is Norando Brown, I am a Hanover native living in Canada and I’m raising funds for my hometown of Lucea, Hanover, located in western Jamaica. My friend’s father lost his home and a number of residents in the Johnson Town, Prosper, Chamber’s Pen and Eaton areas are currently homeless.
Our community has been severely impacted by Hurricane Melissa, leaving many families without homes, food, and essential supplies. I want to do my part in helping restore normalcy and hope to those affected.
This fundraiser aims to provide immediate relief by purchasing food, water, and basic necessities, as well as supporting the repair and rebuilding of damaged homes through the purchase of zinc and lumber. I will be traveling to Lucea to support these efforts in the coming weeks but efforts will be initiated in collaboration with a representative from the Lucea Fire Department in the coming days.
Thank you in advance for your kindness and support. Together, we can help the people of Lucea get back on their feet and rebuild a stronger community.
We aim to raise 20,000 of which $10,000 will be used to purchase emergency supplies like canned food, toiletries, water and bread especially since there’s currently a food shortage in Hanover. The remaining $10,000 will be used to help with the repairing of homes damaged through the purchase of zinc, plywood, nail and lumber.
