CAMPAIGN PITCH
There are over 50 million refugees in the world — and half of them are children. Let that sink in.
These individuals are fleeing unimaginable conditions: war, famine, violence, and political instability. They leave behind homes, communities, and identities — all for the hope of safety.
We’re a student team from the University of North Texas, and we’re partnering with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) to support their mission of delivering emergency aid and long-term recovery to displaced people around the world. Our goal is to raise $5,000 to directly support IRC programs that provide clean water, shelter, education, job training, mental health services, and more.
Help us bring dignity, hope, and stability to those who need it most.
DESCRIPTION
Support Refugees Through the International Rescue Committee (IRC)
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is a global humanitarian organization that responds to the world’s worst crises. The IRC helps people affected by conflict and disaster to survive, recover, and rebuild their lives. Their work includes providing clean water, education, healthcare, economic assistance, and emergency aid.
The social issue we are supporting is the global refugee crisis. More than 110 million people have been forcibly displaced worldwide due to conflict, violence, or persecution (UNHCR, 2024). Refugees often face unsafe conditions, limited access to basic resources, and barriers to rebuilding stable lives. The IRC is essential in helping displaced families regain safety and dignity.
Your donation will support services like job training, mental health support, emergency housing, and healthcare. The money raised will go directly to programs that help refugees adjust to their new environments and build a sustainable future.
We were deeply moved by stories like that of Amal, a Syrian mother who fled war with her children. With IRC’s help, she received trauma counseling and now supports others through peer mentoring. Stories like hers remind us that with the right support, recovery is possible.

LAUNCH MESSAGE
There are over 50 million refugees in the world, and half of them are children.
These individuals are fleeing terrible conditions: war, famine, disease, political turmoil, and more. Refugees are forced to flee everything they know—homes, clothing, communities—for the mere hope of safety.
Look no further than the International Rescue Committee (IRC) if you’re wondering how to help. The IRC works to tackle the barriers faced by refugees—especially women and girls—by promoting economic wellbeing, education, empowerment, health, and safety.
My team and I are passionate about this cause and eager to raise awareness and support. Whether you donate or simply take time to learn, your involvement matters.
We believe everyone deserves a bright and foreseeable future.
Help us and the International Rescue Committee make that future possible — for millions.
WHY THIS MATTERS TO US (TEAM REFLECTION)
When researching the refugee crisis, I came across images of families carrying their lives in plastic bags, walking for miles in hopes of safety. One video showed a father in tears as he explained that he hadn't eaten in two days so his children could. That moment stayed with me—I couldn’t imagine having to make that kind of sacrifice.
We chose the IRC because they don’t just help refugees survive; they help them rebuild. This connects to me personally because I believe in second chances and the power of community support. Reading stories of people like Amal, who turned her pain into purpose through IRC programs, inspired me.
According to the UNHCR (2024), over 110 million people are currently displaced, and many face long-term trauma and homelessness. The IRC’s approach—combining emergency relief with long-term recovery—is what moved me to act.
