Campaign Created By: Killington Resort & Pico Mountain
Funds For: Jamaican Workers in the Killington Community
As many of you know, Hurricane Melissa has caused widespread devastation across Jamaica, including in the communities where more than 100 of our Killington Resort & Pico Mountain Jamaican team members and their families live. The situation is heartbreaking. Communication remains difficult, and many are still waiting to hear from loved ones. We know that some have lost their homes, belongings, and access to essentials like food, water, and power. Several have shared that their homes are a total loss, and many are facing unimaginable challenges. Roads are washed out, updates are limited, and recovery will take time.
Killington Resort is fortunate to have these incredible individuals working across the mountain in Food & Beverage, Lifts, Snowmaking, and more. Behind every snow-covered slope, every lift ride, and every meal served are the hands and hearts of our international staff. They breathe life into every season, and now it’s our turn to help give some of that life back.
After listening to the needs of our impacted team members, it’s clear that their most urgent need is direct cash assistance, to send money back home to loved ones. To meet this need, Killington Resort and Pico Mountain are committing $100,000 to provide $1,000 in direct assistance to each of our 100 affected team members.
We know that many of you may also want to support the Jamaican's impacted, so we launched this GoFundMe campaign to allow additional support for Jamaican team members at the resort and in the Killington Community. This fund will remain open throughout the winter season.
As we head into the season, we’ll be showing our care and respect in meaningful ways, featuring Jamaican-inspired menus in our lodges during opening weekend, raising awareness at the Jerk Jamaican Mountain Grill, and flying the Jamaican flag in honor of our team members.
Thank you for your additional support.
Transparency Statement
This fundraiser was created by Killington Resort's Employee Experience Team, located in Killington, Vermont, to support our team members and those in the Killington Community from Jamaica who were directly impacted by Hurricane Melissa. Funds will be distributed through a resort program solely for this purpose, managed by the leadership team, community members and external auditors to ensure that 100% of donations go directly to team members of the Killington Community in need.
Donations will help these team members and their families purchase generators, building supplies, furniture, clothing, and other essentials lost in the storm. No funds will be used for administrative or resort purposes, and Killington Resort will provide oversight and documentation of all distributions to ensure transparency and accountability. Due to conditions outside of our control, donations are not eligible for documentation for tax exemption purposes.
Note: GoFundMe deducts standard processing fees from each donation in order to host the campaign.
