Hi everyone, my name is Margou Hensley, and I live in Atlanta, Georgia. I was born and raised in Westmoreland, Jamaica, where many of my relatives and family friends still live.
Why I’m Raising Funds
After Hurricane Melissa, my hometown and nearby communities in Westmoreland suffered devastating losses. Homes were destroyed, crops wiped out, and many families are now struggling to meet their most basic needs.
My mother, sister, and I, who are all currently in the United States, have already started gathering supplies to ship. But as we’ve seen the full extent of the damage, it’s clear that our personal efforts aren’t enough to meet the urgent need.
Who This Fund Will Help
The funds raised will directly support families in Westmoreland, Jamaica, including our relatives and neighbors who lost their homes and belongings.
With the help of my uncle, Garnett Monroe, who is on grounds in Jamaica, will help receive the shipments and distribute supplies to the most affected families. He’s coordinating with locals in the community to ensure that donations reach those most in need, especially elderly residents, single mothers, and families with children.
How the Funds Will Be Used
All funds will go toward:
• Purchasing and shipping food, water, and hygiene supplies from Atlanta
• Buying building materials and household necessities locally in Jamaica
• Covering shipping and customs costs for barrels and boxes sent to Westmoreland as needed
• Providing bedding, clothing, and basic furniture for displaced families
We will share updates and photos of shipments, deliveries, and rebuilding progress to ensure full transparency about how every dollar is spent.
A Message from the Heart
Jamaica is strong, resilient, and full of spirit, but right now, many families are hurting. With your help, we can bring relief, restore hope, and help them rebuild what’s been lost.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and prayers. ❤️
