Help Bring Back Leeward Drive-Inn
On Friday, October 2, fire tore through the kitchen of Leeward Drive-Inn in Waipahu. Thank God, no one was inside and no one was hurt. But the heart of the restaurant, the kitchen that's been feeding this community for over 60 years, was badly damaged.
Since 1964, Leeward Drive-Inn has opened its doors at 5 AM, 365 days a year. It's where construction crews grabbed breakfast before their shift, where families picked up plate lunches after Little League, and where "small kid time" treats became traditions passed down to kids and grandkids. People who moved away still drive across the island for a plate of fried noodles, loco moco, or kal-bi that tastes exactly like they remember.
Leeward Drive-Inn has always fed Waipahu. Now Waipahu has a chance to feed it back.
