My name is Jennice Johnson. I am a school counselor in Virginia, born and raised in Jamaica. My sisters and I migrated to the USA in 1997. We are the Malcolm girls and we are seeking support for our Country Jamaica. 

A Category 5 storm just tore through Jamaica, and the devastation is heartbreaking. Most of the island is now without electricity, clean drinking water, food, and basic supplies. Currently, over 490,000 people are still without power, and even though more than 500 shelters have been opened, so many families are struggling to access supplies and shelters are in need of assistance.

Our home parish has been completely leveled in some areas. In Westmoreland (Bethel Town) and Hanover (Chester Castle), where nearly all of our family and friends live, people have lost everything. As of now, we still haven't been able to reach many of our loved ones.

Jamaica is our heart. Everything we are, the way we live, love, and give, comes from the lessons and values we learned growing up there. It hurts deeply to see the island like this. 

We are asking for your support to help our community get back on its feet. We have several schools in Virginia collecting essential supplies that will be shipped through the Jamaican Embassy in DC. 

100% of all donations will go towards essential supplies and building materials such as nails, zinc, lumber, steel, stones, wheelbarrows, tools, and cement (in Jamaica).
