Help Rebuild An Immigrant's American Dream

On Sunday, August 9, 2020, I received a call that a break-in had occurred at the showroom of my boutique fashion label, Petite Adele, in Downtown Los Angeles. (I make special-occasion dresses for little girls.) As I raced to the scene, I received a second call that my business was now on fire.
By the time I arrived, there were fire engines everywhere and the entire street was blocked off. To my shock, my showroom was destroyed along with everything in it. Fortunately, my business was closed and no one was injured. The cause of the blaze is currently being investigated.

When I was a little girl growing up in Korea, my mother owned a tiny dress shop where she sold made-to-order clothes. I can still hear the rat-tat-tat of her old Singer sewing machine. My mother was my inspiration and taught me how to do what I love – fashion design. She passed away in 2014.

That same year, I started my company in my mother’s memory, kept her sewing machine on display in my showroom, and gave my business everything I had to give.

Now, sadly, it is all gone. There is charred debris everywhere. The floor is covered in water. The smell is awful.

But I am still here, I am tough, and I am committed to rebuilding my American Dream. All funds raised on this page will go towards the restoration of my business and covering those expenses that insurance will not.

I realize people everywhere are hurting because of the pandemic and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for any help you may be able to provide. Please feel free to share this campaign. Every bit helps.
