Hurricane Melissa has brought devastating destruction to Jamaica, with Cornwall College suffering severe infrastructure damage. Classrooms have been destroyed, roofs torn away, and students displaced from their learning environment during this critical academic year.
The damage was extensive:
The 7th grade block has lost its roof (its currently being repaired)
Upper school buildings severely compromised
Library and staff rooms damaged beyond use
Critical IT infrastructure destroyed, including computers and servers
Students unable to return to their classrooms
Grade 11 students face particular urgency — they have only one chance to sit for their CSEC examinations, and every day away from proper instruction threatens their academic futures and life opportunities.
In this time of crisis, Grade 11 students face particular urgency — they have only one chance to sit for their CSEC examinations, and every day away from proper instruction threatens their academic futures and life opportunities.
In this time of crisis, the Cornwall College Old Boys Association of New York (CCOBANY), working collectively and collaboratively with the school acted promptly — immediately providing resources for Grade 11 students to continue their pursuit of studies for the CSEC examinations, ensuring that infrastructure damage would not derail their academic futures.
Our mission is clear — to stand by our alma mater, to protect its students, and to help restore the learning environment that has shaped generations of Men of Might.
