Help Rebuild Home for Goobs & Family

Our hearts are HURTING badly. Lobo ("aka Goobs") house burned down Sunday night.

Goobs takes care of his daughter, 9-month-old grandchild, and sister! Thank the Lord the whole family made it out safe but only to turn around to see their home in ashes.

They lost everything, including the cash he has been saving to buy the property next to it to build another house for himself so his daughter and sister could have a separate house. He has nothing now. Nothing for shelter, nothing to sleep on, no food, clothes or money. I'm hoping we as a community can come together to help this family rebuild their home and lift them up as they are going through this devasting time of need.

Goobs real name is Gubercindo Mena.

He was born, raised, and still lives in Chan Chen Belize, a farming and sugar cane area in the utmost northern part of Near the Mexican border.

The Chan Chen community is very poor in economic status but a very happy and content community. The Mena Family are well known and well-loved as part of this community. Goobs parents still live in the small home he was raised in and are now in their 90s (a very rare age for Belizeans). They are in good health with the exception that his father is now blind. Goobs has 7 sisters and 3 brothers. The brothers work hard to help with the sisters, parents, and all of the children. Unfortunately, most Belizean men have lots of babies but don’t often commit to their families in caring for them so it is left to the women to raise their children.

Goobs is a quiet man with a work ethic to be admired. He never says a cross word and his favorite word is “respect”.

These funds will go toward materials to rebuild and furnish a new home for the family.
