Help rebuild her home!
My name is Monica Roe. I am a single mom with 3 children still at home. I am 55 years old and have been battling cancer since 2006. I recently came out of remission for the 4th time. Being through so much chemo and radiation over the years has caused many health issues along with a long list of other major health problems. I have severe nerve and muscle damage over my entire body. At times it causes great pain, other times I have no feeling. I have degenerative disk disease, asthma, emphysema and COPD. I have been on disability since 2008 when a stroke made it unsafe for me to work or drive, as you probably know that isn’t much money. We cover our monthly bills and living expenses but there isn’t enough for savings let alone major repairs. I was always a very active person in my job and in my church and community. I know there is always someone in greater need than myself and my family.. Due to health I had to give so much up last year. The past year I have very rarely been able to attend church, or any of the things I once enjoyed. We had been renting for years with very close family friends, and a couple years ago they blessed us with gifting the house to us and what a blessing that is. I was and am very grateful that I never had to worry about becoming homeless. I’ve been there and the original owners wanted us to know we would never have that worry ever again. Unfortunately, the house is overcome with mold and need for major repairs. Electricity has been out in half of the house for over a year, and the majority of the wiring is not grounded and the electricity isn’t up to code. We also have multiple plumbing issues, no hot water, no water except in kitchen and my bathroom since the freeze in February. Having to usually shower at family or friends is very stressful and physical exhausting. The fact I will soon be starting treatment it has become urgent to have our home healthy and safe for not only for my safety in healing but also for my children. We started doing some of the repairs when we received stimulus checks last year, but their is just entirely too much that needs to be done for us to handle. I know tough times are upon so so many and I truly wish I could help others than having to worry about my family. We currently do not have home owners insurance due to the insurance canceled our policy due to the repairs needed. I was told once the repairs were done and photos sent we could be reinstated (another thing that would be a safe set for my childen.) At this point we would love to just get the house safe to live and fully functional so my health won't be so much of a worry for my children when I start treatment. We would be more than grateful for any type of help. Donations, gift cards, prayers or even helping hand when we have enough funds to start.
