FUZZBRAIN FOREVER -
Two nights ago, one of Northeast London's most centrally important independently owned and operated recording studios burnt to the ground overnight, taking with it the past two years of loving and unending graft that went in to building this community institution.
Ben Spence has been building his studio slowly for years. Interrupted first by being forced to leave he previous location in Fish Island, he found his current location and built the control room and live room by hand, sourced all of his incredible well thought out instrument, amplifier, effects, sound design, and outboard recording equipment through endless hours of thoughtful and unending graft, and built a world of support and access for young musicians, established bands, and burgeoning recording engineers to find their way. Fuzzbrain sent meaning and community in multiple directions of music and creativity in the area, and all over London.
Ben is now faced with rebuilding his studio from scratch, and we're hoping you can help lift him back up the way he so selflessly did for us. This is an ambitious goal but also a chance to make sure music continues to have a home with someone who cares enough to build up not just a service but a platform for people to understand what it means to be cared for and to have the small comforts of creative freedom.
