Help rebuild foster home

My name is Demetris King and I’m the founder of  The Just Because We Care Foundation. We purchased a home in the city of Detroit to renovate and turn it into a foster home for young adult men. Between having four of my own children a full-time job. My family and I have worked on this home every day after work before work and our off days for the last year and a half. Due to Covid we have had setbacks on completing the home. The goal was to be complete and have young adults in the home before August 2020. We have not been able to spend personal time together as a family due to the time and work we have put into the home. We take every check that has extra money, aside from our personal bills to rebuild this home. The home was a complete shell. Before we purchased the home, there was no electrical,no plumbing, needed a roof, replaced all windows and everything was gutted from this home. We were getting close to finishing up the home and ready to be an impact in the community. The demand for the amount of foster children that are in the state of Michigan encouraged us to work harder to make sure that the home was ready even with financial setbacks. Today while bringing materials to the home I noticed windows were missing, the back door was gone and all the tools in the home were all stolen. This is a major setback. My family is saving up for our wedding this September and even with the wedding we continued to work diligently nonstop. Financially we couldn’t afford this setback. Now we are forced To possibly give someone else another opportunity to return to take more items because we don’t have the funds to replace and continue with immediate attention. We were setback $8000 worth of tools and supplies materials and labor. The Just Because We Care Foundation created a mentoring program called raising leaders and from that we invested our own time and money into giving back to the city of Detroit in a special way by purchasing a home and turning it into a foster home for young adult men. Our foundation has been working in the community since 2011. We have served the community doing things like feeding the homeless providing warm clothes and just simply spreading love through simple acts of kindness. We are not naïve to our environment however we did not see this coming.
