Help Rebuild Family’s Home after a Natural Disaster
Donation protected
Hello, my family has had a difficult few months from a natural disaster that happened on Saturday, June 1st when our 400-year-old oak tree weighing 100,000 pounds fell on top of my mom’s house at 4:30am while she and my family were sleeping in it. Just before that, my mom’s dog Reatta went to her top front window in her bedroom, then ran and jumped back into bed pushing my mom closer towards the wall. Almost instantly, the roof caved in around them and felt like an earthquake that even the neighbors heard and felt their own houses rumble from the weight of the tree. By a miracle, my mom and Reatta came out of it with only a few scratches and a bloody nose after it had landed over her with her ceiling falling on her back while in bed. My sister and her husband were in a nearby room with it going through part of their ceiling and also thankfully coming out with only a few scratches. They were able to make a tunnel through all of the ceiling, insulation, and tree to be able to pull my mom and Reatta out of bed and to the back room where the fire department helped get them all out safely.
The house she bought and lived in for 24 years and raised us in as a single mom was not able to be salvaged. The remaining of it had to be demolished as the tree already destroyed half of it as well as disrupt its foundation.
The emotional and financial toll of this natural disaster is quite overwhelming, but we are unbelievably grateful that my family are all safe and physically unharmed.
My mom and family are now completely without a house and need to recover from this financially while having to make a new home. We lost cherished memories, sentimental items, their belongings, and their sense of security, stability, and comfort that a home provides.
Anything anyone would be able to donate towards her new home, no matter how small, or sharing this campaign would be greatly appreciated and grateful for your kindness during this traumatic time.
Thank you, we understand that times are tough for many, and any of your support will make a significant difference in helping them rebuild their lives.
