>> Help us rebuild Berlin’s independent artist's book space from massive water leak <<
Our goal is to raise €20,000 to cover restoration costs, replace damaged furniture and artworks, and keep our artist's book space alive.
On the 15th of October, the walls and floor of our space got flooded with water from above leading to extensive damage of our carefully customised shelves, tables and most importantly our artist's books and artworks.
einbuch.haus has been severely effected from a massive water leak, leading to cancellation of all exhibitions and events for the remaining year, with artist’s works not having chances to be introduced.
We can only turn to you: our readers, friends and community to help keep the space and our initiatives alive!
What Happened
° Water came through the ceiling, flooding the entire gallery space.
° Many valuable artworks, artist books and einBuch.haus archive were damaged.
° The four handmade furnitures in the main space needed to be rebuilt due to the damage and renovation.
° The floor, ceiling, and lighting installations must be rebuilt.
° The gallery is currently closed and awaiting insurance and building assessments.
Why We Need Your Help
Although insurance will cover part of the structural damage and some of the artworks, the greatest loss is the suspension of all exhibitions, events and public activities, which are the very heart of what keeps einBuch.haus alive.
Your support will directly help us to:
1. Sustain the gallery and publishing work during the closure
2. Rebuild the gallery space: we need to replace the furnitures, shelving and technical equipment as it's all handmade by my partner, Johannes and insurance might not cover them.
3. Cover essential operational costs until we can reopen
You can also support einBuch.haus by purchasing books and editions online from our website. Every order helps keep our independent artists' book space running.
About einBuch.haus
Founded and organised by Jae Kyung Kim, einBuch.haus, the Berlin-based project gallery and publishing house, has grown since 2018 into a vibrant platform dedicated to the intersection of art and the book form.
From its conception and design to curation, publishing, and public programs, the space has been built and nurtured entirely through her ongoing dedication.
Each year, einBuch.haus presents around six exhibitions, along with book presentations, internships, an archive-sharing program, an artist-in-residence initiative, and artist book tours.
Since opening, the space has collaborated with over 100 artists and publishers from around the world — fostering a community that connects art, books, and people in deeply meaningful ways.
This flood has temporarily silenced that space — but with your help, it doesn’t have to stay that way.
