Help Rebuild Cool Vibes in Long Bay- Hurricane Beryl Support

Hello friends, family, and kind strangers,

My name is Rebeckah, I'm a yoga teacher, wellness advocate, community builder and proud resident of Long Bay Portland, Jamaica of which I've been calling home for the past few years and where my roots run deep and ground me.

On Wednesday July 07 2024, Hurricane Beryl hit Jamaica leaving a path of devastation behind. A lot of people have lost everything and as someone who loves their homeland of Jamaica it is hard to sit by and watch and not want to do something.

One of the people I know who has been devastated by the wrath of Hurricane Beryl is my dear friend Mike, the proud owner and operator of Cool Vibes in Long Bay, Jamaica, who is now faced with an unimaginable challenge his restaurant Cool Vibes has been completely destroyed.

For over 10 years, Cool Vibes has been more than just a restaurant. It has been a cornerstone of our community and a vibrant fixture for tourists visiting Long Bay. Mike's passion for cooking and his dedication to providing fresh, delicious food has made Cool Vibes a favorite spot for locals and visitors alike. But it's not just about the food. Cool Vibes has been a place where people gather, share stories, and create memories. It’s a community hub where the spirit of togetherness and support thrives.

Now, Mike is left with nothing. The hurricane has not only taken away his restaurant but has also left many people without jobs. Mike is not just an amazing chef; he is a true community leader. Through Cool Vibes, he has created job opportunities for local youth, helping them gain valuable work experience and skills. His generosity and commitment to giving back have made a significant impact on countless lives in Long Bay.

In the wake of this devastation, Mike will need to rebuild the entire restaurant from the ground up. The damage is extensive, and without our help, this cherished establishment may not be able to recover. This is where we come in. We have the power to make a difference and help Mike restore Cool Vibes to its former glory.

I created this page to help Mike rebuild.

As a part-time resident of Long Bay, I have grown to love the people and places in the community that have made Long Bay home for me… because community is everything. Each time I’m back home in Long Bay, Mike makes sure I have a good meal waiting for me, which is always a gentle reminder of the ways being home is such a beautiful and nourishing experience. And because Mike spends his time making sure he looks out for us, it only makes sense that we as a community look out for him.

Every dollar raised will go directly towards the rebuilding efforts. From repairing the structural damage to replacing kitchen equipment and furniture, your contribution will help Mike get back on his feet and reopen Cool Vibes- bigger and better than ever. -and other materials as required
