Help rebuild Cesi's house in Nyambeshi, Tanzania

I am a CMS (UK) Mission Partner and I run the Rehema Project, based in Musoma, Tanzania.

The project has the tagline of ‘the voice of the voiceless’ and provides a voice for local women through employment, training, and empowerment. Rehema is Kiswahili for 'mercy'.

The project employs local women, who prepare excellent food in our café and produce beautiful local craft products for sale locally and internationally. At the moment however, due to the global pandemic, much of these activities have ground to a halt.

One of our Rehema artisans, Cesilia, lives in the village of Nyambeshi. Cesi is HIV positive and is the sole provider for her 4 daughters.

Nyambeshi is a very impoverished area and most of the inhabitants of the village live in mud houses. Cesi is no exception.

Recently Cesi asked me for a loan against her small pension to help her repair her house which had been severely damaged by the recent rains and storms. The rains this 'wet season' have been particularly severe and (of course) mud houses do not withstand the elements in the same way as a bricks and mortar building.

It got me thinking that I have known Cesi for 9 years and in that time she has rebuilt her mud house at least 3 or 4 times due to the adverse weather conditions.

Because she is always spending her small income on makeshift repairs she will never be able to afford to build a proper bricks and mortar home and I thought it would be great if I could do a fundraiser and enable her to build a house that will protect her and her family from the elements and stop that cycle of exhausting her small financial resources on regularly patching her mud house together.

I have received quotes from the builders and we will be able to build a comfortable 2 bedroomed, 1 lounge/dining-roomed house for Cesi and her girls at a cost of £2,200.  The builders are available to commence this work as soon as possible.

I have already managed to raise £700  and it will mean the world to me if you could help me raise enough money to complete this building project.

Cesi will be beyond delighted if we are able to realise this dream, as a bricks and mortar house will not only give her and her family a home, but it will also guarantee future stability and security.
