My name is Renee, and I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my mother, Pauline, and the residents of Catherine Hall in Montego Bay, Saint James, Jamaica the community where I grew up, where my brother lives and where my mother dreams of retiring in the coming years.

Category 5 hurricane Melissa has left our beloved community unrecognizable. Floodwaters tore through Catherine Hall, leaving homes filled with mud and debris. Families are now without electricity, running water, or access to food, as nearby stores and supermarkets were also destroyed.

My mother’s home like so many others has suffered severe damage. Walls and floors are caked with mud, furniture and essentials are lost, and repairs feel overwhelming for everyone affected. Yet, even in the midst of this devastation, the spirit of Catherine Hall remains neighbors helping neighbors in their homes that have second floors, elders and children being cared for and still trying to find moments of comfort amid the chaos. This GoFundMe was created to help rebuild and restore hope in Catherine Hall.

Funds will go toward:

Rebuilding and repairing my mother’s home

Replacing essential household items for families

Supporting elders and families with children who have lost everything

Providing food, water, and basic necessities as supplies run low

Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us take one step closer to rebuilding not just homes, but a sense of safety and community.
