Hello everyone, My name is Camile Brown-Ledet, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to visit my page during such a challenging time.

I grew up in the District of Pondside, just 14 minutes from the heart of Black River, where many of my loved ones, including my dear grandmother, still reside. It breaks my heart to share that on October 28th, Hurricane Melissa, a category five storm, made landfall in Jamaica, leaving behind destruction that many of us have never witnessed before. The vibrant community of Black River and its surroundings have been left in ruins, and countless families have lost everything they have worked so hard to achieve.

I am thankful to God that, after days of not hearing from her, I have learned that my grandmother is alive and safe, though her home was significantly impacted. She is currently without electricity, water, and the necessary everyday essentials. It's truly difficult to see the struggles faced by her and so many others in our beloved town, a place they have always turned to for work, shopping, and support. It's even more painful being unable to be there in person to provide comfort during this trying time.
