Hello, we are Todd Allen and Tyler Horton, Co-Owners/Innkeepers of Bourbon Manor Bed & Breakfast Inn, an historic 200+ year old architectural gem of a property in Bardstown, KY - the Bourbon Capital of the World and voted "America's Most Beautiful Small Town." However, we have some sad news to share…On Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at 1:35 in the morning, we and many neighbors were awakened by a bright orange glow in our windows and the strong, overpowering smell of smoke, only to discover that the fire was our 100 year old tobacco barn that had been converted to a rustic bourbon bar only six years ago.

The flames of the fire were reported by the Bardstown Fire Department to be as high as 90 to 100 feet tall. In a matter of just a few fleeting minutes, the 3,000 sq. foot structure was engulfed in a raging, almost unimaginable, residual heat monstrosity of a fire. The expertly trained city and county fire departments, EMS, and policemen were able to contain the fire in 25-30 minutes, but continued to work an additional 3+ hours in managing the smoldering mass of metal, charred wood, numerous badly-burned towering trees, along with our cars that had been parked inside the structure. IT WAS A COMPLETE AND DEVASTATING LOSS. However, their efforts helped save the other buildings on the property and the neighboring houses around us, thankfully.

Witnessing such a catastrophic fire is something that will be embedded in our memories for the rest of our lives. It has certainly shaken us to our core…and feel fortunate to be alive. We are so relieved that things were not worse and that no one was hurt.

Now faced with the many dealings of insurance and the small print stipulations restricting the ability to recover from such a massive loss and the ability to rebuild, we are requesting any and all help to come up with funds for the shortfalls of insurance coverage and financial feasibility to rebuild a replacement structure. The loss has been in excess of $250,000. We are estimating anywhere from $55,000 to $75,000 of additional funding needed to help rebuild a facility that we intend to be an important
social and entertainment role in the community and for our B&B guests’ enjoyment for decades to come.

Along with the financial hardship of business closure lasting months during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the ongoing mass of cancellations that continue - not to mention the $70,000+ in refunded deposits AND dramatic increase in operational costs - this additional catastrophic loss has quite frankly, crippled our ability in keeping the business afloat and running, our employees paid, and our mounting bills paid. Now with the lack of bar and event revenue for the foreseeable future, finances have never been as challenging as they are right now, to be brutally and frightfully honest.

We are pleading for any kind-hearted donation of any amount. We would not mind even if it's just a $1…your kindness and generosity would be greatly appreciated and would help us tremendously, at a dire time! Any amount will help rebuild our cause…help us rebuild what has been lost, making it even better than before, for the next 200 hundred years. Be a part of this exciting development.
