Help Rebuild Black River, After Hurricane Melissa

Donation protected
On the southern coast of Jamaica lies Black River, a historic town known for its vibrant culture, fishing community, and warm people. Sadly, Hurricane Melissa has left our beloved Black River and surrounding areas in St. Elizabeth devastated. Homes have been destroyed, families displaced, and many small businesses and farms — the lifeblood of this parish — have been wiped out.

The Need
The people of Black River and its environs are now faced with the daunting task of rebuilding their lives. Many families have lost not just their roofs and belongings, but their main sources of income. Fishermen’s boats are damaged, market vendors’ stalls are gone, and farmers’ crops have been destroyed. Schools and community centers have also suffered damage, leaving children and families without safe spaces.

Our Goal
We are raising funds to support:
• Home Reconstruction: Providing materials and assistance to repair and rebuild damaged houses.
• Community Infrastructure: Helping restore schools, community centers, and gathering places.
• Livelihood Recovery: Assisting fishermen, vendors, and farmers to get back on their feet with tools, seeds, boats, and other essentials.
• Emergency Relief: Supplying food, clean water, clothing, and medical aid to families in urgent need.

Why Your Help Matters
Black River is more than just a place — it is home to generations of families whose lives are intertwined with its land and sea. These are hardworking people who give so much to Jamaica’s culture and economy, but right now, they cannot recover alone. Every dollar you give will go directly towards helping families rebuild their homes, restore their livelihoods, and reclaim their sense of hope and dignity.
