On Saturday night, May 30, the peaceful protests for equality for all turned violent in downtown Raleigh as rioters converged on local businesses and wrecked havoc causing significant damage and destruction. Their senseless acts of violence and vandalism was wide and deep.
Our dear friend, Mick Vorbeck, and his brothers (Nate and Casey) own Manhattan Cafe - a downtown Raleigh staple where locals find great food and fellowship amid the hustle and bustle of a downtown work day. Their diner is a perfect example of good and honest people do...work hard, be fair, deliver a great product and you will build a loyal and faithful following.
7 thugs took it upon themselves to break into Manhattan Cafe under the disguise of protesting and launched an attack on the business Mick and his brothers have poured their sweat and love into for the last 5 years. The looters broke glass to enter, smashed their order entry system, set a fire in the middle of the restaurant and even took the time to break into their safe and steal the money left in the safe that was to be deposited from their first week with dine-in guests after the COVID shutdown. These thugs may have crippled the operation of the restaurant but we can not allow them to cripple the love that built it.
The destruction they caused will not kill the spirit of these tenacious and relentless brothers - lets come together and help them get their business reopen. Thank you for considering leaning in to help; we are stronger together.
UNITY builds commUNITY.
