Help Rebuild After Tornado , Medical care for uncle

Donation protected
Friday night was the most horrific night of mine, my family's, and a lot of Laurel County's lives. The tornado that ripped through my county and other counties nearby did not discriminate. Houses were completely demolished in seconds. My mom, Shawn Cupp, has been taking care of my disabled uncle since their mom passed in August 2021. She had been his primary caregiver up to the time of her passing. When the storms hit, my mom had just gotten off work at Cracker Barrel in London, KY at 11 pm. She stopped at the Marathon to get a drink for on the way home. When she went to leave, the tornado warning ⚠️ popped up on her phone and it stopped her in her tracks. The Wi-Fi had been knocked out previously in the day, so we had no way to get ahold of him or to get to him to see if he was okay. When it happened, everyone kept saying Philpot Rd is gone. We were in denial. No way had my uncle been hit. It couldn't be true. After what seemed like an eternity, the tornado warnings finally stopped. My sister was the closest to my mom's house, so she drove the 2 miles to get there and it was a horrific sight. Trees everywhere, power lines, houses torn to shreds, people crying out, sirens blaring, ambulances scattering around. When my sister came around that corner, she found my mom's trailer..... it was all the way across the field in the road about 150-200 ft away. The neighbor, Trevor Spurlock, and the assistance of another man, lived close by and ran out to try and find survivors. My uncle was about 80 ft away from where he was in his bedroom, yelling for anyone to help him. He couldn't move. He was paralyzed. The horror and shock that ran through our bodies is indescribable. We rushed straight to the hospital and all they could tell us was that he IS there but it was so critical they couldn't update me. After 4 long hours, they came and told us they had just transferred him to UK with a bad spinal cord injury. His C6 and C7 got completely crushed in. He is paralyzed from the sternum down and right now his arms are unusable. He can feel them and move them but he says they just hurt horribly. He also had a brain bleed, damage to the artery on the back of the neck, and several compressed fractures in his spine.

HE IS ALIVE!!! By God's hand he SURVIVED.

My momma and uncle lost everything in this disaster. I'm asking for help to rebuild their lives and make proper accommodations for David when he is eventually able to come home. His spinal cord injury is a grade A. The worst grade there is

Please help us rebuild their lives. I want to help them get into a new home with accommodations for a wheelchair. They are starting completely over and I know God has a plan and will see us through.

Please pray for all of the people across the states that were affected in any way by this horrible natural disaster. My prayers are with every single one of you!!!
