A devastating forest fire swept through my dad’s mountain home this week, and in a matter of hours, everything was gone. The house, his tools, clothing, furniture, camper—every belonging and memory built over a lifetime—was completely destroyed. All that remains is his truck and the clothes he was wearing when he had to evacuate.

He and his partner, Annie, are safe, and for that we are incredibly grateful. Their dog made it out with them but they also lost their cats and chickens. They are now starting from absolute zero, and they did not have insurance to cover the loss of the home. As you can imagine, the emotional toll is deep, and even though their spirits are and faith are high, we would like to support them on the path ahead to make it feel less overwhelming.

I’m creating this GoFundMe not just to help them replace basic necessities—clothing, toiletries, a phone, household items—but also to surround them with love, encouragement, and support from friends, family, and even strangers who care.
