Help Rebuild After South Texas Flood
Donation protected
On March 28th, our community in South Texas (Harlingen) was hit with over 20 inches of rain in 24 hours. My mom had experienced this already only 6 years ago. For the last week and a half, we have been cleaning and trying our best to remediate our space. We have mold, cabinets and walls still holding moisture, and flooring that will need to be replaced. Two bathrooms, the kitchen, office, and garage will all need to have 2 feet of walls and all cabinets replaced. Today, we had a remediation company come through and let me know we will be in utter chaos for a week minimum and recommended that we stay elsewhere while they address the water damage and treat the mold.
I have had several people reach out to me asking to help and requested I set this account up to help us offset all of the incidentals we are already having to cover. Some have sent us supplies, food, and comfort items- Thank you so much. Some have helped by cleaning alongside us and others have been a kind voice to keep things positive when we are exhausted and in tears (usually daily). Luckily, we have some coverage with flood insurance. No coverage on contents damaged/lost. I cannot imagine having to deal with this twice, my mom is truly the strongest most resilient person I know, so I would like to be able to keep her financial outlay to a minimum and my hope is that this will help her.
We will also take all the love, light and prayers you have and will always pay it forward.
